We got my MIL's 20k mi 97 Taurus when she passed two years ago. Replaced the
rusted brake pipes a couple of months ago.

Happened to my 1998 taurus SHO a couple years ago.
Underneath the Drivers door, where the lines go from vertical to horizontal,
the double pipe had rusted out. Apparently that's where the water collects in
the
brake lines and had rusted out both pipes. Bought the whole section from a
dealer.
Not uncommon at all, as he had them in stock.
I would extend this from 1996 to at least 2003 models as they are the same.
Unless they changed suppliers at some point.
Definitely known amongst the SHO community.
As is the cam problems with the V8 engines.

Bugeyeracer finally resto'ed!
