My 1960 Jag MK IX had flap-vents in the footwell that were fed from the 
air intake just in front of the windshield....
Sun roof was standard,

But the defrost ability was about the same as a Spridget  i.e. almost 
non-existant  ;-(

Curious...Is there any reason why they never put vents in the footwells 
on
the Sprites/MGs?
