I also had to know.
Some DPM (dumb previous mechanic) And a local LBC mechanic that gets 
paid to do this replaced the ground wire inside the dizzy, I saw it and 
that it was new and tight. What I did not see was that it went from 
dizzy plate screw to the other plate screw keeping the advance plate 
ungrounded.
This wire should be soldered to the advance plate. It is now and it 
works fine.
You never know just what you will find and that even though it was 
*rigged* it did work for a few months. My guess is that it was grounding 
through the spring contact under the advance plate every now and then 
and as soon as the plate moved a bit, the ground went away.
