[Spridgets] No LBC-anti-lock brakes

ABS = A nti-lock  B rake  S ystem
I think I heard or read somewhere that the system was originally developed for
airplanes, though not sure when or by who.  As for cars, I think GM made first
attempts in the 70's.

Enquiring minds want to know why anti-lock brakes are called ABS?   Also
what car first had them....
