When I bought my rib case the guy had it on a stand running with an electric
motor to demonstrate how it went through the gears.

But that was not enough to know what it would do under load?

I got the measurements and opened the side door - and took the feeler gauge
to see how much wear might be there.  It checked out and has been serving me
perfectly now for a few years.

Not sure if you can do this with a Datsun. . .someone on the list would
know?
