If it has the crank feture - it can be done.
It usually take a couple of trys. Been there - done that.

Ok, so you put a little gas in each float bowl, bolt a starter to the engine,
stuff a coil in the oil bypass pipe and hook it up, - to dizzy and + to the
jumper cable, ground the engine with 1 jumper cable and touch the other jumper
to the starter.
It will crank over and fire if everything is good or close to good.
Do not run it too long without a radiator.
When the floats are empty, you should know what you have.
do not spill gas under the open exhaust manifold before you fire it up.
And keep a hand on the rocker cover because the engine will want to torque to
the side a little and might possibly tip over when running if it is not in
good order or revs up real high, or misses.
I never had one tip over, I never set the floor on fire but my floor is
concrete, don't do it on a wood floor with an open manifold but still keep a
hand on it to keep it from rocking.
