"I know the first obvious thing is the 4 barrel intake, but is there casting
numbers on the heads or the block to identify it as a A code?

The engine casting codes were the same because the block was the same. The
"A" code engine had 10:1 compression and a longer duration cam but retained
hydraulic lifters. The compression ratio was altered by the use of dished
pistons in the "C" code versus flat top in the "A" code. They used the same
heads. The proper numbers for a 4V manifold depending on year are
C4OZ-9424-H or C3OZ-9424-C. Back then a lot of "2V" manifolds were replaced
with 4 barrel manifolds and you cant tell the differences until you take
them apart and look at the pistons and cam. Even then a casual examination
wont tell you what you have, but the horsepower difference was about 25
horsepower. "

Subject: [Spridgets] Off topic Mustang code?

List,
Sorry for the off topic but...
Can anyone tell me what "A code" or "K code" refers to regarding mid 60's
Mustangs? Or tell me a source to use to find out?

(finally getting a garage for my Sprites)
