Very reliable, but a very expensive rebuild. Arguably one of the most
beautiful automobile engines ever built. V-12's are smogged and heavy and
complex. The 4.2 was where they started smogging and detuning. I think the
early 4.2 was still pure. Later ones started losing carbs and gaining air
pumps. The V-12's have more plumbing than engine, and the cars got bigger
and heavier. The 3.8 is also very fast, but the 4.2 had full synchro instead
of the Moss box.
