[Spridgets] Vent holes

My BE has quite a few reinforced oval vent holes around the bottom of the inner sill and floor pan. The one under the door is shown in some pictures in Porter's Restoration Manual. Mine also has a lot of drain holes in the bottom of the sill, which I have never seen before. As far as I know, these holes are not included in the replacement panels, certainly not in the floor panels I have, although the picture in the Moss catalogue shows one on the floor.

I have not seen discussion of these holes. They seem like a good idea, especially if we use Waxoil inside. Were they eliminated in newer cars? If so, is it because they are not a good idea or because it was cheaper?

What are the group's thoughts on adding these holes to replacement panels?
