Bill,
You can get your car/chassis # (vin) and Heritage Certificate from BMIHT @
http://www.heritage-motor-centre.co.uk/shop/heritage-certificates/technical-
specification-packages/heritage-certificate-technical-specification-package-
/index.html You can get the vin number by providing the BAE plate # that
should be on the other door pillar. The BAE # is the body number.
The cost is 39 GBP.(about $70-75) They do not provide this info for free. I
do not know of any other way to get your vin# other than what Rick provided.
I just got the info and certificate on one of my Sprites by submitting the
BAE #.
As for putting an alternate motor in your car, check the archives link
listed at the bottom of every email submitted to the list.
Hope this helps.

Subject: [Spridgets] Questions
I have a sprite that I am trying to find the vin number on. I have looked
on
the shock mounting plate and looked for the vin plate under the carbs. I
have
been in contact with a gentleman who has tried to help me find the vin plate
to no avail. I have a number that is riveted on the drivers door frame.
That
number is ABL011653 but he says this is a body number and not the vin. The
car did not come with a motor but the body is in fair shape so if anyone can
point me to a post or website that can help me with putting something other
than a austin/MG motor in this car IE a toyota or nissan motor. I would
appreciate it.
Thank you for your help
Bill
