Hello Skip,

     forget the modern VIN. No one who knows anything will understand
     how you got it, or what its for. When dealing with the DMV, you
     may be accused of counterfeiting, not something you want to deal
     with. If you need an inspection, so be it. Same with the
     insurance companies. If you must, show the rep. They can deal
     with computer problems of their own making.

     OH, welcome to "the list" .. you'll get answers to questions you
     haven't thought of yet, as well as opinions on guns, cats,
     guitars, Zappa, and OEW.
