its not the hardness its the fact that it compresses to the point I am looking through the steering wheel

That's subjective. Most of us weigh a lot more than 130lb, but prefer a 
softer than stock cushion that will give us more headroom rather than a 
softer ride. Maybe you need to grow more padding.
