You can use either the rubber or the cork gaskets in the half-moon sections. The newer kits come with both, you choose which you want to try. Both are dependent upon how good a job you do installing them. I'm convinced it's a feel-good marketing tool so you can blame any resultant leak on whichever version you choose, and you think "next time, I'll use the the other."
