I soldered a "penny-patch" on a Jeep gas tank once-
Of course I filled the tank with water first to prevent any explosion danger
(left about 1/2" of "air" at the top so I could solder), blew compressed air
thru it for about an hour to purge any remaining gas and proceeded...
The BANG didn't hurt anything but DID wake me up pretty quickly!
After that I went ahead and finished the job and it is still holding 5 years
later.
But I won't do that again
