[Spridgets] 77 Midget Handbrake cable

Gentlemen,

I decided to replace my handbrake cable this weekend. The cable was ordered
and had arrived on Wednesday. Garage was clean and ready for me to do the
repair. I waited till Sunday to start because this was going to be an easy
fix. Well all plans are doomed to fail! I jacked the backend up, took off the
wheels and proceeded to pull the cotter pins that hold the retaining pins of
the cable to the rear brakes. That is as far as I got! The retaining pins
will not come out. I heated them, banged them, cursed at them to no avail!
The only thing I did not do was cut them off. Should I just cut them or is
there some magical way that they are to be removed?

By the way, I located the other end of the cable (handbrake lever end) inside
the tunnel. Is there an easy way to remove this end or am I going to have to
become a contortionist in order to snake a wrench in the tunnel to remove the
cable??

Thanks for any help,
Steve Aldous
