Well, the soft shell IS a blue crab, just after molting (hence why the
shell is soft).
 
I'll take mine fried, on a bun, with the legs sticking out the sides.

Negatory!!! It is Blue Crab!! There is some soft shell but Maryland is
the 
land of Blue Crab! 

Meanwhile, the western high plains where I live are known for another
type 
of shell fish.... Rocky Mountains Oysters! Yummm!
