Hello Dave,

     Sorry,... ..your assumption is incorrect in the circuit...

     While it IS true that the power formula is Volts times Amps, and
     doubling the voltage would APPEAR to double the power, in these
    circuits  what happens is doubling the voltage results in an increase in
     current flow thu the FIXED resistance....Thats why the Power
     formula also states as you have correctly said Volts timees Volts
     divided by RESISTANCE.
