I was a member of the R.A.F. which was officially formed on April 1st 
1918....   we always knew it was a bl**dy joke   ;^o

Before that it was considered to be part of the Cavalry !!!!!!!!
Pilots instructions included "be sure to remove spurs before entering 
the cockpit"
