[Spridgets] Good Cranks, Bad Cranks

There's a lot of mythology around Spridget cranks, including one that I've
heard some racers amazingly perpetuate that some cranks are cast (they are all
forged). Either way, I assume you will have the crank ground - if you are
going to grind it, you should have it nitrided. You will lose the hardness
penetration for sure on a tuftrided crank, and almost definitely on a nitrided
one if you grind it .010.

There was some discussion of which 1275 cranks
are good and bad in the archives, but I can't find this answer. Vizard says
early EN16T cranks were Tuftrided, and later ones (1974?) were not. How can I
tell which version of EN16T I got with my 1275 bits and pieces
