Oh, I know. When you drive your buggy into the barn - forward and you 
don't want to back out, you use the turntable to turn the buggy 180 
degrees so you can drive out of the barn.

This one was installed in the home of a lumber baron, I believe, in 
Laurium Michigan (In da U.P. eh?) probably about 100 years ago.
