[Spridgets] themostat

Might a standard generic thermostat work? Check NAPA? 

I don't run a thermostat in my 1969 Datsun 1300 engine. Like religion
though, a lot of people disagree.

Dear group,

      I am faced with the problem of trying to find a thermostat for  
my '59 Bugeye.
Have tried the usual sources such as Vict-Brit and Moss. All they send  
is the
domed thermostats and not the flat even though the one ordered says  
for my
machine. Who has the the correct one? Presently running and  
restricting sleeve
for cooling but would like to have something keep me warmer in the  
cooler
weather. As usual, thanks in advance
