I take it that this piece of metal cannot touch the rear housing?

After a couple of tries, I managed to make one using some hobby brass 
off the rack at the local hardware store.
It's just two 90* bends and some work with a file, it was trying to 
drill the hole in the middle that was the tough part.
Try and hold that tiny piece on a block of wood and drill it.
I did get it drilled using a vice but I remember make a few of them 
before I got it right.
If I recall, I used a 1/4" wide thin strip of brass, it comes a foot 
long do you get plenty of tries for a couple of bucks.
