The government steps in, builds a singular automotive conglomerate which
has all of the ills and none of the strengths of the constituent
companies.

Britsh-Leyland > Rover Group > BMW > the new MINI  (to shorten the sad
progression)

General-Chrysler > Chevrolet-Dodge Group > Chop Suey Motors > the new
Jeep (ahh, so!)
