Being one to generally put his money where the statistics are, it's seemed lately that  stock market will never recover from its recent plunge. 2 months ago, according to my log, I paid $4.69 for a gallon of gas.  I just put some fuel in the Sprite tonight, same station, $2.26 per gallon. I would never have thought it would be so cheap again. Of course, I'm losing hope for a resurgence of micro cars, but maybe the general populace has a longer memory than I give credit for.
