It is true!  I have it.

Yesterday, my turn signal lights were working, but they would not turn off.
So I pulled everything and spent an hour lubricating and trying to figure out
why it would not click off.  It turned out to be a glop of glue on the
plastic.  The glue was from an old repair to another part of the switch.  So I
put it back together and it turned on and off just fine, except one of the
lights would no longer work.  So I took it off again and spent an hour
cleaning contacts - no joy.  Finally I bent a wire to make a contact firmer -
the wire that had been glued in producing the glop I had cleaned off before.
So I put it back together and the turn signal worked fine, but the horn push
would no longer work.  So I went back in again and spent an hour getting all
of the contacts working.  When the horn finally worked, I put all together,
bolted the steering column back in, and took a ride around the neighborhood.
My tach, which was working yesterday, was no longer working, probably because
of the fussing I had done in pulling the turn signal and wiper switch.  So I
pulled that and found a bunch of orphaned wires of uncertain function.  My
multicolored wiring diagram is really great to use, but it does not have the
tach on it.  So I spent some time trying to figure out what the various orphan
wires were for.  Sometime as I was trying to figure out the tach, I turned on
the key and the heater started running.  I have never heard the heater fan,
and have left that whole system for later, as it is not required for an
inspection.  Now it won't turn off when the car is on.

As I said, everything I touched turned around and bit me in the butt.  I gave
up and went home for a beer.  Maybe two.
