[Spridgets] Tie Rod End removal?

AND,
by the same reason hitting on the end of the pin, apart from damaging the
thread, is not likely to work as the impact shortens and then swells the pin
and it sticks even tighter!

The reason this works so well isn't by magic, though it looks like it!

The pin is tapered and fits into the matching tapered hole in the steering
arm. The steel of the steering arm has a very slight degree of elasticity.
Well, I think all steel has. When hit with a BFH it compresses momentarily,
and then bounces back and at that instant the hole in the steering arm gets
fractionally bigger and it lets go. Hitting in line with the steering arm
works. Two hammers works well if you time them to impact at exactly the
right moment and diagonally opposite each other. One hammer held whilst
hitting with the second works, but only produces half of the "bounce" and
may not release the pin so easily.

At the Buster Cluster Peter C. amazed me with exactly this technique! One
good rap with the hammer and, voila! I won't say it's the slickest thing
I've ever seen, but it was damn amazing.

Hal

.... simply hit it smartly in line with the steering arm with a 1-pound
ballpeen hammer and watch in amaze as the TRE drops nicely out of place.
