[Spridgets] summer school cars

I'm with Ron on this one. I don't have any kids, but, if I did, the most
important thing that I think I could give them is to learn how to drive
before letting them out there. I don't know what it is like today, but in
my day, nearly 40 years ago, driver's ed was a complete joke.

One of my best friends who is a professor/author/lecturer type of egghead
who doesn't know a spark plug from a radiator cap, after talking for hours
on end with me, decided his two boys had to graduate from Skippy's street
course. He bought them cars and paid for their education, but that
education was the best thing he could have done for them.

By the way, his kids are as ignorant about cars as he was, but at least they
now know how to drive them. They are also two of the most responsible,
decent kids any parent could hope for. They just aren't car guys. So what.
At least they aren't the juvenile delinquent kid that used to delight in
getting the cops to chase them like I was. Thank God they never caught me.
What an idiot I was.

Not me. Mine are both going to Skip Barber's street class on me. They don't
get keys until they do, period.

By all accounts, there is no better way to prepare them for what's out
there.
