You can still send invites but they're no longer required ... Anyone can now
go to www.gmail.com and sign up to create a new account.

Gmail certainly has it's troubles but all-in-all it's not bad and I find it
very handy for keeping my MG (and jokes!) email separate from my day-to-day
email.
