The website can track who visited the page, but no website can track whether
or not I did a copy/paste, unless they've installed a keylogger on my
system, at which point, I'm pretty sure they'll be paying me 250,000, not
vice versa.

Anyone who puts an image on the web knows very well that someone else may
save it to their PC.  There is virtually no way of taking something back,
once you stick it out there in cyberspace.

If I copy the picture, and then repost it, on the otherhand, I can be in all
sorts of trouble.  The copyright may prohibit someone saving a local copy,
but that is not very enforceable.  Consider the fact that when you visit a
website, you cache most of the images on the web page locally on your pc
anyway: your browser saves a copy of the image on your hard drive.  So by
your theory, if you visit the website, you've violated the copyright, and
must delete all temporary files after visiting a website!

Hardly a tenable position.

Just remember, your computer is easily tracked through your ISP if someone
decided to make an example of you. It ain't free just because it's on the
internet. I've got a storm chaser pal who just got his $250K settlement from
somebody that used his pictures without permission.

Come to think of it, I've got some songs online. Wanna steal them so I can
sue ya fer yer back teeth? ;-)
