Some people report, mostly insurance companies.  If you pay cash for a
repair, you don't have to report anything.
It is possible to total a car and repair it without Carfax knowing anything.
It is good to check Carfax but nothing beats having a good body shop
put the vehicle on a lift and inspect it.
