I added tabs to the console to allow mounting it slightly more forward.

I also fabricated a frame out of thin gauge aluminum which I mounted
on the front which holds the radio - this I placed over the speaker
hole, the radio is angled down slightly to give a bit more room. I
then made a boxed shelf which goes in the lower hole left by the radio.

The nice thing is placing a CD so that it hits the underside of the
dash pad lines it up perfectly with the CD slot. Couldn't have worked
out better if I had tried.

Took a couple evenings to sort out - If I were to do it again I would
just make the frame deeper rather than mess with extending the console.
