The new rebuild is now nicely broken in. The motor performed well up in the
Sierra, handling the 6000 ft altitude as it always does. When I got home I
ran out the rest of the tank driving to work, so there was a mix of freeway
and city miles, but on refilling this weekend, I found I had gotten exactly
30MPG. On a turbocharged 1275! Not bad.

With everything pretty well squared away for now, I'm getting bored and have
decided to start building a Megasquirt fuel injection controller for Bugsy.
An Arctic Cat 46mm throttle body and a whole lot of fabrication should give me
a fun project for the upcoming winter. Fuel-injected, turbocharged,
electronic ignition, Datsun 5 sp., disc brakes....... ain't originality
great!! Once you've gone over to the dark side, there are so many temptations
to indulge in. With the Megasquirt II I can dial in timing retard linked to
boost levels and have total control of the fuel mixture slaved to boost
levels. Could be a great cold-morning start, high MPG, piston saving addition
to the car. Not to mention a ton of fun soldering, wiring, cutting, grinding,
welding and cussing.

Once all the mods are done, maybe I can fit a few Miyata body panels to spruce
it up eh??
