Well....
if your gage read low by 15psi last time you checked it...then adding 15psi to the high reading would give you around 75 psi at 3k rpm, which.....would be about right where it should be for a "new" motor built to "mid"
to "close" tolerances, ass-u-me(ng)
a correct oil pressure reliefe valve set-up.
Not to spend your money but....why not call
Don Racine over at MiniMania and see what he might have on hand for a "correct"
spin-on filter assembly (or perhaps he could direct you, accordingly) as the Moss unit should have fit a normal in-lilne Series A, (assuming the correct part) with no
fettling at all.
I can understand why you're suspicious of it
under the circumstances. I'd be, too.
Incidentally, as you know, anything over
60psi (hot) on a daily driver at 3k just "drags" the motor, causes foaming/heating of the oil and does
nothing for lubrication....just the opposite
according to the experts (you can confirm this with Don) so you might give some thought to the "adjustable" valve once you
KNOW where the "hot" high end oil pressure really falls, should it be substantially over 60psi at 3k.
I mean, after all, you've spent good bucks on the "new" motor. What's a few dollars
more (relatively speaking) to "insure" it, so to speak, oil being it's lifeblood.
