Because it was a '67 that was the first car he and his first and only 
love had.  For Frank and Diane, it is also a  memory to be relived;  a 
memory of the days when the fire was first kindled.  As the song tells us,

    Those were the days, my friend!
    We thought they'd never end.
    We'd sing and dance forever and a day.
    We'd live the life we'd choose.
    We'd fight and never lose.
    For we were young and sure to have our way!
