Yes, later sending unit needs the later gas gauge and maybe even the 
voltage stabilizer which I just snagged of Rusty ;)
I only tested it on the bench with a 12 volt power supply but it did 
work the correct way.
The early gauges just did not work with the later sender. Well it works 
but backwards.
