Next weekend on November 9-11 the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day will be in town; this will be
my wife's 9th walk, Nine years clear. So any of you San Diego or close Members whish to drive by and
offer support it will of course be appreciated.  And it's a good excuse get the Spridget or Morris
out and to honk at all the pretty gals out walking. I'll be in my big white Dodge Ram as support for
my wife's team.

Friday 20.1 miles 

 

The Day will begin in historic Del Mar, the city that Theodore Loop called "the most attractive
place on the entire coast." Heading south, you will tour Torrey Pines State Park, catching a glimpse
of the rare and elegant Torrey Pine trees and miles of unspoiled beaches. La Jolla is next, where
you will experience the La Jolla Cove, one of the most photographed beaches in Southern California.
You will tour through the young, hip area of Pacific Beach, before ending the day in Mission Bay
Park.

Saturday 21.1 miles

You will begin your day in the area that was originally called "False Bay" by Juan Rodriguez
Cabrillo in 1542, Mission Bay Park. The route will take you along the breathtaking boardwalk of
Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. From there, you head into the laid back, unpretentious neighborhood
of Ocean Beach, or OB. Sunset Cliffs is next, named for its exquisite sunset vistas. The sleepy town
of Point Loma will be next before heading back through Ocean Beach. On your way back to Camp, you
will pass one of the world's premier marine adventure parks, SeaWorld San Diego.

(Go west on N. Jetty Road, into parking lot. Cheering station will be at grass area just north of
parking lot.)

 

Mile 10.3
11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Ocean Beach Surf Spot Park
1900 Abbott Street, San Diego
(grass area at Abbott St and Newport Ave)

 

Sunday 14.3 miles

On Day 3, breakfast will open at 5:00 am. All camp services will be open from 6:00 am - 7:30 am.
Morning Camp closes and all walkers must begin walking by 7:30 am.

You will be heading to the east side of Mission Bay, passing Mission Bay Golf Course, where Tiger
Woods won a Junior World title. From there, you will tour through the "birthplace" of California,
historic Old Town. Mission Hills is next, followed by Hillcrest, the eclectic urban village with a
small town feel. Before heading into downtown, you will walk through the nation's largest urban
park, Balboa Park. Your 3-Day adventure will end at the home of the San Diego Padres, Petco Park.
