[Spridgets] exhaust wrap

Hello all,  I just finished reading an article about exhaust wrap  which 
basically said it would severely shorten the life of the header.In other  words, 
"don't use it". Any thoughts out there?  How about the coating for  both the 
inside and outside of the pipe that I see advertised? Some kind of  ceramic ? 
Summer is coming on and I need something to keep the heat down.Bob  C
