Michael,

         This is in reply to your message to me, that I have also 
cc'd to the list as you did, and it will be  my last comment on this 
particular subject.  It will also serve to answer others on this list.

         I have been on this list for  ......... oh .......... about 
12 years or so.  More than many, less than some.  I have been 
fortunate to meet some really great people here, and am firm friends 
with many of them.  We hosted "Spridgetstock" for two years running, 
until personal issues made it difficult.  Robert Houston asked me if 
we'd consider doing it again, and we agreed that we would, but we 
haven't got any further with that at the moment.  People came from 
all over the country, and they came with anything British, or not 
even British, but just wanting to get together with similar minded folks.

         I started an on-line register of LBC minded people, who 
would be willing to lend assistance, be it tools, labour, towing and 
even accommodation, etc.  for those travelling across this country 
and encountering problems with their temperamental vehicles.

         I have championed the side trips we often take, which were 
oft times frowned upon when the list was in it's earlier stages.  I, 
too, suggested the delete button for those not interested in a 
particular topic, be it guns or cats or whatever.  I likened the list 
to a party, where one could mingle and sample the various on-going 
conversations, and could move on 'till finding one that suited our own tastes.

         I can attest to the fact that when American elections have 
been forthcoming someone would make a comment, express an opinion, 
which did not suit everyone on this list, and the proponents were 
advised, sometimes kindly and sometimes not, to take that kind of 
discussion off-list.

         When I had more time, and didn't have the personal issues 
that I have today, I offered suggestions and parts.  Not just to this 
list either, but to other Brit. lists, too.  These days I barely have 
time to monitor the messages, but the whole tone of this list has 
changed anyway.  This is a living list, a community of diverse 
peoples, and as such one would expect it to evolve and change  -  to grow.

         I must admit to finding some of the conversations very 
juvenile, and use my delete key with alacrity.  But I must also 
acknowledge that I have gained much from it, and am thankful for it.

         Although I have lived in this country, with my Texan 
husband, for many years, I have maintained my British citizenship.  I 
own land in America, pay American taxes, but am still very British - 
just ask Brad should you question that.  I am also a dyed in the wool 
Royalist.  I may hold very poor opinions of certain of the Royal 
Family, but my monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, is beyond reproach -  in 
my company - again, just ask Brad.

         Ergo, because I hold her in high regard, I am offended when 
she is reviled.  I firmly believe in having the courage of one's 
convictions - and am not given to keeping silent when my scruples 
demand otherwise - yet again - ask Brad.

         I am not a prude, but when some threads <don't you all just 
adore that word?> go beyond the pail, I just prefer to delete.  I am 
a grey haired old lady, but my children, and our grandchild have been 
somewhat instrumental in keeping me 'of today'.  I adore fast cars 
and FI racing.  I'm not fond of much of the music Brad likes, but my 
husband, who is II years older than I <thus even greyer haired than 
I>, really appreciates it.  He is one of the "old rocker' 
types.  Perhaps you might even like to ask Brad about Buttery 
Whatsits, that alone may give you more insight, should you even be interested.

         Having said all of that, and I could go on but I won't <way 
too much bandwidth and too much information>,  if you all feel that 
it would be better that I unsubscribe, I'll happily do just 
that.  This list is not the center of my life, although I should be 
sorry to miss much of the camaraderie.
