I recently flushed out an oil cooler when I was
pressed for time and didn't have the correct hose
adapters available (anywhere) for the new one. Ran the
hose through it for many minutes, boiled it when the
wife was out for a while, then ran mineral spirits
through it and shook it up, blew it out with
compressed air. Little bits of crud were still coming
out. I took it to a radiator shop and $20 later there
was a lot of crud that came out, good as new. The
intermediate steps I took did OK and would probably be
fine for a radiator that is otherwise OK, but for the
money, I'd just bring it in and have it done right.
