Up here in the great white north, we get a range of snow conditions. Wispy
to wet ( not to mention freezing rain and 'black' ice ). What catches a lot
of people off guard, is the polished packed snow at the intersections where
other people have slid to a stop and spun away. You have pretty good
traction until you get to where you have to stop.

Have I mentioned lately how much I love the Subaru with snow tires for
winter driving?

Hello Bill,

what you fail to mention (of course this doesn't EXCUSE the
inept drivers, and those who think 4wd allows them to stop and
turn as fast as they can GET GOING) is the the snow in the NW
IS SLICKER than that in the Northeast.. .. those NOT from the
area will wonder.. HOW CAN THAT BE?... rest assured, it IS...
mostly because when it snows its usually right around 32
degrees.. the snow is dense and after someone drives on it
ONCE, its PACKED ICE, .. not at all like that wispy blowy stuff
that exists where its 15 degrees or less when it snows.. ..
people from east of the Pacific NW see 3 inches of snow and
LAUGH LAUGH LAUGH when they seattle shut down by that
"little".. then they come out here and CRASH thinking THEY know
how to drive in it.. ...

       enough rant.. sorry
