And that was one of the primary motivations for the Miata as well, so you
seem to be contradicting yourself again. In fact, there are many valid
comparisons between the Sprte and the Miata. No, they are not the same.
Yes, the Miata benefits from the existence of the Sprite as well as from
a whole lot of technology developed since. No, they did not throw a V8
into the Miata; does that make it gutless? Perhaps. It is still fun to
drive.
Sure they gave it independent rear suspension, 4-wheel disk brakes, a
synchro on first gear and a fifth (and sixth on some) gear to say nothing
of complying with the current safety regulations. It might not be as great
as an Elan, although I doubt that anyone would dispute that Elan ownership
is not for the faint of heart, but it is significantly better than an MGB in
stock
form. The Miata has been an affordable top-down sportscar for over 15
years now. You cannot perceive its soul, but there are plenty of other
people
who can.

There you go again. It still isn't working, but it is fun to watch you
wiggle.
Some people say the same thing about the fact that I tend to use reasonably
correct grammar, mostly correct spelling and words that are not frequently
heard on race tracks. Oh well. I didn't say I was superior. You are a far
better race driver than I could ever be. You are a much better mechanic
than I am. Oh yes, I am also jealous of the track in your front yard. If you
feel inferior, I certainly don't see why ;-}You are a nice guy and I do
appreciate a lot of what you have done for Sprites, but you and Ed both
tend to be a little weak when it comes to getting your feelings down in an
email. Oops, did I compare you to Ed? I must apologize to one of you
immediately.
