Yes, you will probably need to rewire - I went through the same thing
with my 30 gallon Craftsman compressor.  Even upgrading to a 30A breaker
didn't do it because my wiring was 14 gauge - I needed to go to 12 gauge
before it would run without tripping the breaker.

List,
I recently bought a 30 gal. air compressor 110 and only used it one time
without trouble, the other day I turned it on (in my garage) and blew
the
breaker 2 times. I only had the overhead lights on at the time 1
incandescent 100 watt bulbe, and 3 double bulb 40 Watt florescent lights
I'll try it in the daylight without the lights on next. Can I put in a
larger breaker or do I need an electrician? If the breaker blows (turns
off) do I need to rewire the garage line?
