John got it. It seems I can't follow simple directions.
Pilot bushing _then_ flywheel you say?!!!

Yes, rushed outside, (still raining), took off flywheel, installed bushing,
replaced flywheel, torqued bolts, installed and centred clutch pressure
plate and disk. Done, what a relief.
