FWIW, I bought a transmission in England a number of years ago from a rebuilder who ships transmissions across the pond pretty regularly. Her shipped it FedEx, whatever their overseas equivalent of “ground” is. I would have never considered them, but it was under $200 to St. Louis. It's a 3.5 litre straight six that doesn't skimp on the cast iron. I don't know weight - I'm going to have to try to weigh one that I have that's a complete short block with head but damaged.
