Extending it is possible but if you're not going to cut/solder/splice 
your own wire, you'll need an off-the-shelf extension cable that has the 
right connectors.  Measure the diameter of the barrel connector at the 
end of the wall wart's cable and get a rough measurement of the diameter 
of the hole. Chances are your connector will be 5.5mm x 2.5mm or 5.5mm x 
2.1mm or 3.5mm x 1.35mm.

Once you have an idea of the size, you can order what you need on 
Amazon.  For example, "5.5mm barrel connector extension cable" turns up 
dozens of results.
