That said, I think the sleeve that Mark Miller suggests is a much better solution. We dealing with the results of a busted 2 inch PVC ball valve coming out of one the tanks on our rainwater collection system. Replacing it with a brass valve and adding some drains to make sure we get as much water out of the supply pipes as possible, hoping to avoid a repeat. Even with the PVC valve turned off there was enough water to blow out the PVC valve housing with the extended period of below 20 degree temperatures here the last week near College Station. They weren?t leaking, I assume they were before the patch. My experience with galvanized pipe is that if it has one hole in it, it is about to have a lot of holes. It?s better to replace the whole stick of pipe. Clearance was a bit tight, was tough to get the sticky fiberglass around the epoxy covered pipe nice and tight. Ugly job. Let it cure for the recommended hour, turned the water back on, worked just fine. For about 5 hours. Dripping again. Looks like I will try the compression couplings next. Will need two of them. Will have to cut out about 5" of the old pipe with the failed repair, splice in a piece of pipe with a coupler on each end. That will be a task for tomorrow. Ttry printing to file from the internet just to see if your browser is able to interpret the file. Other things to try are to try another browser and/or user on the computer. Never noticed it before but it was checked as "ON". Never noticed it before but it was checked as "ON".
