Any grinding stone should work. Go slow and don't use much pressure. I had a large piece cut for a light table at a glass shop and they smoothed the edge with a belt sander with a narrow belt (approx 1/2"). Have the glass on a soft surface to help absorb vibrations. Of course, wear eye protection. You could also look for a stained glass shop in your area. They will have a special glass grinder, kind of like a router table and will leave a very nice edge. The key is to keep it cool. We had a system that would drip water, and I'd keep the glass and bit under the drip and it worked fine. Taking it to a glass shop is easier, if you have one nearby, because their grinders can grind along a line very easily. I have a 12X12 insulated door and my opener just quit. It was a Raynor 1/2 and lasted 23 years (so it really didn't owe me anything.) It failed most likely because the springs weren't tension properly (they 'slacken' over time and I never readjusted them. That has since been corrected.) Anyway, local place that did the install quoted 2 grand for a new one installed. I just want to buy one and install it myself. But all I find are the 'big box' brands that have wifi and such and 3 and 4 piece 8' rails. I do NOT want wifi. Just a button. Also, I want a 12' one piece rail, so I guess that is why I'm having a hard time finding them online. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks. Are you a Costco member? I just had 3 8x7 garage doors (mid range in quality) with openers with cameras installed through Costco for under $10K after discounts (Central NJ for context). I think the openers were around $800 each, but I don't know if they will do just openers without the doors. It may be worth looking into. I didn?t want a screw or chain drive because I didn?t have the available overhead space so I went with a shaft (or wall mount) opener from Liftmaster. Works great. It has Wi-Fi & BT, but they don?t need to be used except for setup. I got mine from Lowe?s as an unopened special order that was never picked up, discounted 50%! I haven?t looked, but you might be able to find one online @ a discount shop. There are some that have battery backup built in if that would be helpful. I have about 10 in my building and $2k isn't a bad price installed. Most of mine are Chamberlain LiftMaster Professional, Medium Duty. They usually have dual one piece rails. Most don't have the bells and whistles that home openers do but they're made for heavier loads and more frequent use. From what I can see they'll be over $1000 for the basic system, plus parts specific to your installation. Rails for a 12' door will have to be truck freighted straight to you so that'll add $$$s too. Commercial garage doors are something I just call the professionals for.
