[Shop-talk] cleaning nasty aluminum

I'm restoring a 50's model gas pump and the next step is cleaning and maybe 
polishing the aluminum nozzle.
 
70 years of accumulated crap (fuel, oxidation, etc) have it looking and 
smelling BAD
 
I'm looking for  a lazy mans' way to clean this up... i.e. no scrubbing and 
scraping.
 
Anything I can just dump all this into a plastic pan that will remove the crud 
??
