[Shop-talk] What is this called?

My 1970 Dayton (Grainger) shop vac's motor finally wore out, not helped by
years of occasional blast cabinet abuse. Grainger got me the part number,
no longer stocked of course, and Googling I found that it's a Lamb motor
and still current. Found the best price from a vacuum guy online
(about$70) and it's like new now.
