I have installed a few tankless units over the years 220v & propane. I’d suggest you run heavy enough wire to support the highest current that might be needed just in case. Both will require 2 conductors plus ground.
An alternative might be a small (1-2 gallon) tank type heater that you turn on when you start work. It can be plugged into a 120v outlet.
